I am a 33 year-old mother. I have two beautiful daughters, one who is three years old and the other 13 months. It was during my first pregnancy, with my boy who I sadly lost, that I noticed a strange beauty mark behind my thigh. Given that I was already very shaken up by what was happening with my pregnancy, I ended up forgetting all about that beauty mark. One day during my second pregnancy, I went to see an esthetician who pointed out to me that the mark behind my thigh was black with a red contour. She strongly suggested that I go see a dermatologist. At that point, I was six months pregnant. After a sample was taken, I was informed that it was in fact melanoma. My world came crashing down in an instant. I just couldn't believe it! I had skin cancer. They tell me that the cancer hasn’t spread. I get pregnant a third time. History repeats itself. This time I have two melanomas! One on the tibia, the other on my back. I’m again blown away. Luckily, both were removed without any further treatment, but today I still find myself stressing about it. It's really not easy. I have two wonderful daughters and I need to be in good health for them. So now, I always make sure to protect myself from the sun, and I definitely protect my girls too!
